Backpacking Sleeping Pad
Backpacking Sleeping Pad – This may be the solution to blowing up an air mattress and having to patch the holes in it that always seem to sneak up on you in the middle of the night!
The Therm-A-Rest Ridge Rest SOLite Backpacking Sleeping Padis a good choice. The type you select should have several features that will be to your benefit: easy to roll up and tear-resistant ( you don’t want a bunch of snags). Having one that is listed for 3 season use is also a plus. These types will generally keep you warmer on cold nights.
Fold-able Pad
Another variation of the backpacking sleeping pad which may provide additional advantage to your particular situation is foldable. A very good one is the Exped MultiMat. Laid out flat, it can be used to insulate the floor of your tent, folded over it can provide padding and warmth under you at night. Put some clothes between the folds and it will pad and insulate even better!
Base Camp Mat
If you are setting up a base camp to do your exploring from, then a little heavier backpacking sleeping pad may be useful as a leave-behind in the base camp. When you come back tired and possibly sore, the extra cushioning will be welcome. This is an excellent choice in a Backpacking Sleeping Pad.
