Hiking – Backpacking – Camping – Fishing

Outdoor Sportsman – Where Hiking leads to Backpacking which leads to Camping. Get the right gear and have a fantastic time out in nature.  If you like to eat, don’t forget that  Fishing may be available along the way!

Supplies for Hiking: You will have the best experiences hiking as an outdoor sportsman when you are equipped with the correct equipment for this type of activity. Many different words are used to describe this stuff, such as gear, equipment, and/or accessories. We will attempt to address many of the variations covered by the various names. As you become an avid outdoor sportsman, you don’t want to forget to take your Pocket Camera along on your trips.  This is how you will be able to prove to your friends who are still playing couch potatoes that you made it!

Supplies for Backpacking: Most of the things you have already acquired while learning the hiking skills necessary to become a better outdoor sportsman can be directly used while backpacking. By the addition of a few more pieces of gear of the right type (canteen, water purifier, first aid kit, tent, etc.) you can extend your walks, enjoy more scenery and have fun with a little bit bigger challenge while you continue to add to the skills of an accomplished outdoor sportsman. The correct items carried in your backpack will allow you to enjoy the time spent getting to your destination (don’t forget the food!).

Supplies for Camping: Now you have reached the pinnacle of success as an avid outdoor sportsman – Camping! By adding a few more pieces of gear (a sleeping bag would be nice), you are ready to spend the night. By now you have a backpack with either an internal or external frame. This will give you space to add more of the good stuff needed for an overnight stay and help you carry the additional weight more easily. Maybe you have stepped up in time and distance as an outdoor sportsman and we are talking about extended adventures that will include using 4X4’s, Pickups, Trailers, RV’s, or Cabins.

Supplies for Fishing: Some of us like to fish while we are out wandering around.  As an outdoor sportsman on a long trip, sometimes it is beneficial to be able to catch some fish along the way.  Having a small collapsible fishing rig beats going hungry!  Remember to use your pocket stove to cook the fish.

When you get up off the couch in your quest to become an Outdoor Sportsman, and start hiking with the correct supplies, the fun begins. The next thing you know, you get a backpack (you have to carry your food/snacks in something) so you can stay out a little longer and go a little farther. After that, with the time and distance increasing, then of course, you need to spend the night. Ta Da – Camping here we come!
